Sei que não publico há eternidades, confesso que andava com pouca inspiração e até vontade. Mas esta sessão que fiz com um fotografo meu amigo, veio mudar um pouco a minha vontade. A ideia foi dele, tirarmos umas fotografias no novo edifício da EDP, na  24 de Julho, e vestir a minha roupa da colecção do Alexander Wang x H&M. Acho que foi uma dupla vencedora, e que as fotografias ficaram com o ar sci-fi que estávamos à espera.

Bota de cano-alto

Hoje trago-vos uma peça que não é muito fácil de usar, e que quando mal usada pode ser um desastre. Botas de cano alto, que podem ser mais justas ou mais largas; de salto alto ou nem tanto. Como muitas peças do guarda-roupa feminino, têm inspiração numa peça masculina, as botas de montar do século XV. Mas foi nos anos 60 que que a tendência explodiu e passou a estar nos pés do mundo. 

Over the Knee Boots

This post is about a piece that's not exactly easy to wear, and an be catastrophic  when styled wrong. Over the Knee boots can be thigh or baggy; high heeled or not that much. Like many feminine pieces this one has inspiration in a masculine piece, riding boots from XV century. But it was in the 60´s that this trend exploded.

No entanto com o passar dos anos esta peça ganhou uma denotação negativa, e era automaticamente ligada a um certa profissão, todos nós nos lembramos das famosas botas da "pretty woman".

Mas o mundo da moda teve a capacidade de renovar estas botas e de lhes dar uma nova roupagem. De há uns anos para cá vemos regularmente botas de cano alto nas melhores semanas da moda. Este ano não foi diferente. Raf Simons (designer da Dior) apresentou em Janeiro, na semana da moda de alta-costura , e mais uma vez na semana da moda Outono/Inverno 2015/2016, botas brilhantes, justas, e super super altas. Mas não é apenas a Dior que apresenta botas de cano alto, podemos vê-las em marcas como Calvin Klein, Isabel Marant, Rodarte, Burberry e em muitas mais.

Over time thigh high boots gained a negative connotation and was associated with a certain kind of women. We all remember "Pretty Woman" boots.

But the fashion world was capable to reinvent thigh high boots and give them a different connotation. in these few past years we have been seeing these boots in the best fashion weeks. This season was no different. Raf Simons presented in January, in the haute couture fashion week, and again in the F/W 2015/2016, shiny, thigh, and super super high boots. But another brands presented this boots, like: Calvin Klein, Isabel Marant, Rodarte, Burberry and many more.

MY TAKE ON

E como de costume mostro-vos como eu uso esta tendência. Tenho que admitir que adoro este tipo de botas, tenho dois pares, estes e umas rasas. Acho que podem ser umas botas bastantes versáteis e óptimas para o Inverno. Normalmente, e ao contrário do que vos mostro, uso-as sem mostrar perna ou seja, com vestidos ou saias que sejam mais compridos que as botas. Desta vez decidi ser um pouco mais arrojada.

As usual I give you my take on this trend. I have to admit that I love this type of boots, and have two pairs. For me they are very versatile and great for the Winter. Usually and on the contrary of what I'm showing you, I wear them without showing legs. This time I decided to be a bit more bold.

CALÇAS À BOCA-DE-SINO/ FLARED PANTS

Para muitos já não se usam e estão desactualizadas. E a verdade é que este corte de calças vai estar para sempre ligado aos hippies e à musica disco. Mas as calças à boca-de-sino estão de volta.

Nasceram americanas e no virar do século. Utilizadas primeiro pela marinha americana, pois permitiam que os marinheiros tirassem as botas mais facilmente e eram mais fáceis de tirar quando molhadas. 

For many of you they're outdated. And it's true that this type of pants are always going to be intertwined with hippies and disco music. But flared pants are back.

They were born  in america in the late XIX century. Flared pants were first used by american navy, because they were easier to remove.

Foi nos anos 60 que começaram a ser utilizadas nas ruas. No entanto eram usadas principalmente pelos Mods e pelos os hippies, e não pela população em geral. Figuras como Mick Jagger, Jimmi Hendrix e Twiggy eram fãs deste tipo de calças. 

It was in the 60´s that the bell buttom pants were taken out on the streets. They were mainly used by mods and hippies, but not by general population. People like Mick Jagger, Jimmi Hendrix and Twiggy were fans of this pants.

É nos anos 70 que esta tendência chega às massas. Muito disseminada na televisão, com series como os Anjos de Charlie. No cinema, com filmes como A febre de sábado à noite. Também através da musica com a disco sound e o glam rock. 

In the 70's this trend finally reaches the masses. Widely spread on On TV shows like "the Charlie's Angels" or on famous Movies, ig "Saturday Night Fever". And threw music as well, disco sound and glam rock had an important role setting this trend.

Como podemos observar pelos coordenados e editoriais, este corte de calças pode ser bastante versátil. Podemos observar-lo em jumpsuits num look de gala, em calças de ganga para um look mais casual ou até mesmo em fatos. Com inspirações mais boho ou rock n'roll, tudo é permitido.

As you can see in the editorial pictures, the flared cut can be very versatile. We can find it in a jumpsuit to a formal evening/ball look, but we can as easily find it in a more casual look, in jeans and even in suit pants. With more of a boho or rock and roll vibe, your set to go - sky's the limit

MY TAKE ON ...

Agora mostro-vos um look em que uso calças à boca-de-sino. É um look bastante simples, calças pretas e t-shirt branca, no entanto o facto das calças não serem umas simples skinny faz toda a diferença. Adoro este corte de calças pois me fazem umas pernas enormes, mas tenho sempre que as usar com uns grandes saltos altos. 

Now I'd like to show you the look I've created. It's pretty simple. I'm in my flared jeans and a white tee. Even though it's basic, the fact that I'm not wearing normal skinny jeans gives a different edge to this outfit. I absolutely love this type of pants because they can make your legs Miles longer. If you wear it, of course, with the right pair of high heels. That's my secret.
